หลักการใช้ตัวย่อสุดฮิต "i.e." และ "e.g."

i.e.

•  เป็นคำย่อที่มีรากศัพท์มาจากภาษาละตินว่า “id est” แปลว่า พูดได้อีกอย่างหนึ่งว่า (in other words)
• ใช้เมื่อต้องการอธิบายเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับหัวข้อที่พูดไปแล้วก่อนหน้าให้ชัดเจนขึ้น ขยายความมากขึ้นว่าเกี่ยวข้องกับอะไรบ้าง
• เวลาใช้จะมี comma (,) คั่นระหว่างประโยคก่อนหน้า แล้วถึงตามด้วย i.e. เสมอ

i.e. ในที่นี้ ใช้เพื่อขยายความคำว่า "natural"

i.e. ในที่นี้ ใช้เพื่อบอกความหมายอีกอย่างของคำว่า “hard water” เพื่อให้ผู้อ่านเข้าใจมากขึ้น

e.g.

• เป็นคำย่อจากภาษาละติน “exempli gratia” แปลว่า ตัวอย่างเช่น
• จะใช้เมื่อยกตัวอย่างเฉพาะที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประโยคที่พึ่งพูดไป
• เวลาใช้จะมี comma (,) คั่นระหว่างประโยคก่อนหน้า แล้วถึงตามด้วย e.g. เสมอ

สามารถใช้ for example แทน e.g. ได้เช่นกัน

I really love tropical fruits, e.g. mango, durian, and mangosteen.
(ฉันชอบผลไม้เมืองร้อนมากเลย เช่น มะม่วง ทุเรียน กับมังคุด)
